Prerequisites
Knowledge of differential and integral calculus and of main concepts of mechanics and electrodynamics

Learning outcomes
Acquire the main concepts related to the following topics: basic elements and methods of quantum mechanics; atomic and molecular properties and states of matter; electronic and optical properties of solids; radiation-matter interaction and laser physics.

Program
Basic of quantum mechanics: wave functions, Schroedinger equation, observables and operators, the harmonic oscillator, model of atom. Condensed matter: molecular interaction, liquids, solids and liquid crystals, structure of crystals. Electronic and optical properties of solids: energy bands, metals, semiconductors, insulators. Matter-radiation interaction. Light amplification and laser emission.

LEARNING EVALUATION CRITERIA
It is evaluated the acquisition of the main concepts related to the following topics: basic of quantum mechanics, atomic and molecular properties and condenssed states of matter, electronic and optical properties of solids, radiation-matter interaction and laser physics.

LEARNING MEASUREMENT CRITERIA
It is evaluated the level of understanding of concepts and the depth of analysis of the subjects

FINAL MARK ALLOCATION CRITERIA
The score is proportional to the level of understanding of concepts and the depth of analysis of the subjects
