The course address all the fields of traditional physics, from mechanics to thermodynamics, with references
also to electromagnetism and geometrical optics, delving into theoretical aspects but also into aspects related
to design and building

Physical observables and scientific method. Concept of Measurement. Vectors. Cynematic of the material point. Definition of force. Principles of Dynamics. Some specific forces: gravitational force, weight, elastic force. Static and dynamic friction. Other types of reactions. Work. Work and Kinetic energy. Conservative force. Potential energy. Energy conservation. Linear Momentum. The angular momentum. Systems dynamics and the third principle of mechanics. Centre of mass. Rigid systems. Equilibrium conditions. Rotational kinetic energy. Angular momentum of a rigid system. Momentum of Inertia. Temperature and its measurement. Thermal dilation. Work and Heat. Thermodynamic transformations. First principle of thermodynamics. LEARNING EVALUATION CRITERIAStudents should show their degree of knowledge by solving physical problems using logical and deductive procedures
LEARNING MEASUREMENT CRITERIAThe final score will be in the range 0-30 and it is calculated as an average between the two scores attributed to the written and the oral examinations
FINAL MARK ALLOCATION CRITERIAthe final score is proportional to the students degree of knowledge.
