Prerequisites
Knowledge on fundamental aspects concerning the most common engineering materials and technical drawings is required

Learning outcomes
The course aims to provide the basic and analytical tools for the management and the design of the most integrated production systems

Program
Integrated production systems in the modern industry. Conventional production systems and lean production. Decision making in production systems under certainty, uncertainty and extreme uncertainty conditions. Decisions in competitiveness as a function of time, cost, flexibility and quality. Reliability in production systems. Aspects of integrated design. Analysis of assembly and production lines with and without buffers. Group technology and cellular manufacturing: part families, part classifications and coding, production flow analysis, cellular manufacturing. Application cases Flexible manufacturing systems: fundamentals, components, applications and benefits, planning and implementation issues. Application cases.

Development of the examination
LEARNING EVALUATION METHODS
The exam is oral in which the student must answer 4 open questions related to the content of the entire course.

LEARNING EVALUATION CRITERIA
During the oral examination, the student should demonstrate to have completely, correctly and clearly understood the treeted topics and to be able to solve exercices in correct way. He should be able to know and to apply the principles of integrated production systems.

LEARNING MEASUREMENT CRITERIA
Grading scheme is based on a scale of 30 points. Successful completion of the examination will lead to grades ranging from 18 to 30.

FINAL MARK ALLOCATION CRITERIA
The final mark in thirtieths is obtained by the sum of the marks obtained in each question and excercise. The mark is considered sufficient when it is equal to eighteen and maximum when it is equal to thirthy.
