Learning outcomes
The objective of the course is to give students the necessary knowledge in order to be able to interpret and execute mechanical drawings of components, groups and assemblies, as required by technical drawing standards. At the end of the course the student will be able to perform, according to standards, dimensioned drawings of components and simple assemblies. He/she should also be able to read a mechanical drawing of a component or an assembly, interpreting in a complete and correct way the views in orthographic projection, the dimensioning and tolerancing specifications (including geometric tolerancing and roughness), the instructions in the title block and in the BOM.

Program
Role of mechanical drawing in the desing/prodcution process, regulation and standardisation, representation methods, ortogonal projections, sections, notes on processes and materials, rugosity, dimensioning, dimensional tollerances, threading and threaded entities, connections, guides and joints, mechanical transmissions.

Development of the examination
LEARNING EVALUATION METHODS
The assessment of student learning consists of two parts: - a written test, which consists in the design of a component starting from the overall design of a mechanical product, to be completed in two or three hours, depending on the type of exercise - an oral exam, consisting in the discussion on one or more topics covered in the course. The written test is in preparation for the oral exam, access to which the student must have obtained at least a pass in the written test.

LEARNING EVALUATION CRITERIA
Ability to read and realise a mechanical drawing

LEARNING MEASUREMENT CRITERIA
Ability to execute mechanical drawings

FINAL MARK ALLOCATION CRITERIA
Average rating of the written exam and oral exam
