Learning outcomes
The objective of the course is to give students the necessary knowledge in order to be able to interpret and execute mechanical drawings of components, groups and assemblies, as required by technical drawing standards. At the end of the course the student will be able to perform, according to standards, dimensioned drawings of components and simple assemblies. He/she should also be able to read a mechanical drawing of a component or an assembly, interpreting in a complete and correct way the views in orthographic projection, the dimensioning and tolerancing specifications (including geometric tolerancing and roughness), the instructions in the title block and in the BOM.

Program
Role of mechanical drawing in the desing/prodcution process, regulation and standardisation, representation methods, ortogonal projections, sections, notes on processes and materials, rugosity, dimensioning, dimensional tollerances, threading and threaded entities, connections, guides and joints, mechanical transmissions.

Development of the examination
LEARNING EVALUATION METHODS
The evaluation of the level of understanding of the students is done with two different exams: - a written exam, consisting in a series of questions related to the topics subject of the course and a drawing to be completed in 90 minutes; - an oral exam, consisting in a discussion of the topics object of the course programme and in the interpretation of a mechanical drawing. In order to access the oral exam, the student has to pass the written exam. The oral exam must be taken in the same session of the written exam. In the case of failure of the oral exam, the student must take again also the written exam.

LEARNING EVALUATION CRITERIA
In order to pass the exam the student has to show, through the exams described above, a good understanding of the syntactic and semantic aspects of mechanical drawing, meant as a graphic language and therefore to be able to correctly read a drawing of an ensemble and to be able to sketch components and simple ensembles.

LEARNING MEASUREMENT CRITERIA
The marking of the written exam is given by the sum of the marks obtained in the questions and in the drawing. The questions assign points from 0 to 10; the drawing assigns points from 0 to 20. In order to have access to the oral examination it is necessa

FINAL MARK ALLOCATION CRITERIA
In order to pass the exam, the student must obtain at least 18 points in the written exam and must take a sufficient oral exam. The maximum mark can be obtained by showing a deep understanding of the contents of the course during the various parts of the exam. The laude will be given to those students who have completed all the parts of the exam correctly and comprehensively and who obtain a brilliant result in the oral exam and in the written exams.
