Learning outcomes
The course aims to fill in the student's gaps in heat exchange topics to provide skills in the design of standard and compact heat exchangers. The course covers heat transfer by conduction, convection and radiation.Particular attention is devoted to the design of thermal dissipation systems for consumer and professional electronics. The course provide the student with concepts helpful in selecting the most appropriate shape, size and material type of thermal control systems.
Program
Multi dimensional Conduction heat transfer. Control Volume numerical methods in steady and unsteady state. The heat sinks heat transfer modlelling by means of MATlab platform. Forced convection heat transfer. Natural convection heat transfer. Radiation heat transfer. The infrared thermography in laboratory applications. Heat pipes. Design of compact heat exchangers.
